Is the address of the Kingdom of Chic that is Collette. A superstore heavy weight in the land of Parisian and global fashion, Collette combines effortless cool with top end designer brands, a real awareness of what is hot right now and visual displays to arrest the heart of even the finest Visual Merchandiser.

So on a not so bright but very early London Monday morning I have woken with dreams of Paris (alas I have wanted to go for as long, I feel a very maternal love for the French) and fashion. Surely www. surfing on COLLETTE can fill the hole. For a while at least.

So that's what I had for breakfast and what a yummy French treat it was.

BISTROTHEQUE!

Last week I made an overdue date with my friend Sammi. She's utterly gorge. AND uber talented. She's works at Ralph Lauren. Told you she was talented.

So through Lulu Kennedy's rave reviews about Bistrotheque and from hearing their name from their pop up restaurant in Stratford, Olympic Village I knew the setting was right.

And so I fell in love. The food is amazeballs. The design, layout and decor is amazeballs. The service is amazeballs. In fact everything BISTROTHEQUE is amazeballs.

I had the risotto with Parmesan shavings and to die for peas. And it was suitably gorge. Followed by their strawberry cheesecake. Equally gorge (sorry about lack of photographs, taking pictures might blow my cool kid cover).

Tucked behind the streets of Bethnal Green it is both hidden yet very much visible - that is if you know what you are looking for.

They also wander superbly into the world of entertainment, fashion, arts and generally the 'cool' side of London. Proving ever popular with the East London fashion set it's clear after dining there to see why. Surprisingly unpretentious the restaurant serves simple and delicious food. The waiters are friendly, funny and mighty good looking and I'll be taking a few of my finest here on a regular basis. The bar and courtyard were heaving by 8pm and the toilets are decorated with fine samples of artwork and wall doodles, which I did manage to take pictures of. We also bumped well Sammi did anyways, into the man that sells peacock feathers in and around East London. Sammi bought 5 and now I have 1 in my room behind my shoe boxes and pile of Vogue, ID and Dazed. Thanks sweety. I also then bumped into him at Aldgate when I was on my way back from the Museum of London. I felt to say hi to him but I got scared that he might air me. Then I'd have to deal with that issue and I don't like issues unless they are of the magazine variety.
So that was my Bistrotheque timings.

If your around and can find it - pop in my fine friends you won't be disappointed. www.bistrotheque.com

PRET FASHION?

No don't worry my pretty people Pret are not launching a range of Spicy Falafel Melt related fashion. Here at Fried Eggs HQ we have stumbled upon http://www.pretaportobello.com/ which is the online version of Portobello market.

Now I won't lie nothing beats the genuine joy of rummaging through markets. The hustle and bustle of the wide and beaming spectrum of people there. The marketers banter. And the joy of finding a rare jewel amongst the treasure.

Now me and the beautiful Brenda (more of which in my Tuesday Birmingham post) were saying we haven't been to Portobella in yonks.

I remember my first time var well (2003). Me and my then* Sierre Leonian friend Andrew were studying fashion and Andrew wanted to buy fur to trim his suede skirt with so we hopped on down and my friends I fell in love with the market. Subsequent visits followed. But alas I haven't paid Mr Portobello Market a well earned visit for too long.

I will be doing so soon and will spoil you with pictures of the adventures and the finds we come across. In the meantime here are some little trinkets I found on their online version of the market. Some vintage. Some new. ALL utterly wowzers.

*we broke up over a 20 box of his mum's imported Silk Cuts and Mary J Blige. Isn't this how most relationships come to a bitter end.

VAR, VAR BUSY!

Oh my fine friends I have so much I have yet to post. The last week has been a flurry of activity - all nice of course.
There was Bistrotheque. Birmingham. Museum of London. Tate Modern. Whitechapel Gallery. Emma Cook. Bizarre Nights Out. Armani Internship Stuff. IARS Article.

I will be having a posting orgie maybe Tuesday or summin and will make it up to you all with lots of pictures of my adventures. And lots of crazy tales about dangerous sex freaks in Shoreditch and Zombie Proms and Fashion Sales!

The reason my life is even more mental than usual is I have left the building of my photographic portfolio until the last minute (for my interview at Kensington and Chelsea) so I'm having to super speedy gonzalez get it done. I have my images all shot !POW! I just need to trawl through them and decide which ones make it past auditions and then ultimately into the portfolio and then (man this is making me sweat) ...

... mount and label them ups and makes it all pwetty.

I also had to buy a newspaper on the 6.8.10 and then shoot a picture based on a story (I chose the Guardian). So I've got to edit my picture then mount that up too.

Lastly I have to write a 300 word article on a recent photographic exhibition I have been to.

Jeesh!

I'm kind of a little shit scared as this will be starting the same time as my Journalism degree and my Production Assistant role is starting next week too! Eek!

Is anyone going to actually see me this next year?

Still it's better to be busy making your dreams come true than be idle wishing you could make your dreams come true.

Go make it happen people! Make your mumma proud!

MUSICAL POSTAGE!

Cor blimey geezer mate I'm proper feeling the blogging vibe today innit! So I thought I'd do me a wee lil post on some of the songs tickling my ears at ze moment.
  1. Lykke Li - Dance. Dance. Dance
  2. Foals - Big, Big Love Fig. 2

  3. The xx - Islands
  4. Stevie Wonder - Living for the City
  5. Koffi Olomide - Loi

  6. Mobb Deep - Got It Twisted

So yes this is what is delighting my ears at present. But while I'm on this blog roll here's SIX other things that delight me, in a manner of different ways ...

  1. GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer - easily the best primer out there at a respectable £13 from Superdrug
  2. Barry M Lipstick - I have worn this shade for literally years and gave it a rest when it become a little bit too rinsed but people have started to forget about it now, so it's safe for me to start wearing it again. Cool tsatsiki. Around 4 quids from Topshop, Boots or Superdrug.
  3. Boots Expert Sensitive Gentle Aloe Vera Foam Wash - I didn't really want to tell you about this as it is such a beauty saviour that I had to struggle to share it with you (sorry my beauts I blame this on not having eggs for breakfast this morning). But mumma always taught me to share so felt quite compelled to listen. She is always right after all. £2.99 from Boots (well duh me for stating the obvious). That's all I'm saying on this one I'll let the product do the rest.
  4. Rubbish - la magazine that is. So in love with their silliness that it makes me giddy. I am solidly an ambassador for all things in the land of the silly. In fact it is probably one of the only prerequisites that future husband must have.

  5. Carven - the French luxury label which sowed its fashion seeds to sprout in 1945 are back and throwing one heavy high end punch. With Guillaume Henry now at its realm the label describes itself as 'fresh, lively and elegent'. Like take this jacket. AW10 personified. And I want it on my ever expanding back (I really need to start running again the rapid weight gain is not being shy at all at making friends with me). Camel tones. Check. Clean elegant lines. Check. Styled with skinny belt cinching in waist. Check. Total love forever. Check.

  6. Moustaches - did you think it was Tom Selleck for a moment then? Did you? You did didn't you. Well as much as I love the Selleck, moustaches pip him to the post. I love moustaches in all their varying degrees of complexity. From the very faint and simple to the groomed and super styled handle bars. I love them all. I love them, as equally as I love me fried eggs. From time to time I shall be regaling in some moustache posting and I just hope that your kind selves will not think any less of me for this somewhat obsessive and addictive love of the hair upon the upper lip. I've even been moustache hunting before. That is prowling around festivals, art galleries, bars and clubs looking for a moustache to call my own. It's so well known that my closest friends (well I only really have two friends so it's not that hard) can even spot a good moustache for me now. So appropriate time to thank Ladies B & K for all their continued support in my mission for Mr Moustache.

NOTE: Crazy boss lady came back so I can't reorder the images to match the bullet points hopefully you can figure out which image relates to which bullet point. If you can't. God help us all.

kiss.

KARMALOOP POST II

BLOG SURFING ON THE JOB?

I'm bored. I'm doing reception today at a very big international company and me and the other lovely temp are bored as the morning rush has finished. She is on the www. shopping. I am on the www. blog surfing.

Low and behold my surfing has produced some fine fruit. Through the vines of the fashion bomb blog I have found a shopping website I have not heard of! Is this possible? Yes it seems. So the website is an United States of the Americas site called http://www.karmaloop.com/. The name in itself gives you an soundbite of what to expect. As with many US of A sites I'm usually distraught after trawling through the site and filling up my on-line trolley that they do not in fact ship to the shores of the United Kingdom so I was presently suprised to find this site does. Lots of hip-hop trinkets to keep me pleased.

And my fetish and thirst for accessories was suitably quenched in this porn fest of shiny, shiny things. I'm like a pirate and a magpie sort of a pirpie so to speak or a magate but either way my lovey of shiny, shiny trinkets will never go away. NEVER!

I lust for all of the above. I mean look at the neon plastic and metal - aeroplane two finger ring! Argh! I've got a new website crush. Hello sexy baby!

Shit! Crazy, boss lady is coming gotta go!
Until next time my fine friends.

kiss.
